An extensive research study funded by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, National Institutes of Health was began in 2007 and ran through 2014, and was designed to provide Hypnotic Relaxation Therapy to reduce hot flashes among postmenopausal women.  One hundred eighty seven women were accepted into the study and were randomly assigned to either the hypnosis program group or a structured attention control.
